On 16th July 2026, the Peripheral Pharmacovigilance Centre (PPvC) of the Regional Research Institute of Unani Medicine (RRIUM), Srinagar, organized a Pharmacovigilance Awareness Programme at the AYUSH Health and Wellness Centre, LAR Ganderbal, for patients, doctors, and paramedic staff.

क्षेत्रीय यूनानी चिकित्सा अनुसंधान संस्थान, श्रीनगर में दिनांक 18 से 21 मई 2026 को हिंदी प्रबोध, प्रवीण तथा प्राज्ञ पाठ्यक्रमों की परीक्षाओं का सफलतापूर्वक आयोजन किया गया। इस परीक्षा में संस्थान के कुल 21 कर्मचारियों ने उत्साहपूर्वक भाग लिया। इसके अतिरिक्त, राष्ट्रीय प्रौद्योगिकी संस्थान (NIT) के 4 कर्मचारियों ने भी परीक्षा में सम्मिलित होकर हिंदी के प्रति अपनी रुचि एवं प्रतिबद्धता प्रदर्शित की।

On 21st May 2026, the Peripheral Pharmacovigilance Centre (PPvC) of the Regional Research Institute of Unani Medicine organized a Pharmacovigilance Awareness Programme at the AYUSH Unit Murindarbang for patients, doctors, and paramedic staff.

Regional Research Institute of Unani Medicine Srinagar organized a medical health camp under the TB Mukt Bharat Abhiyan – 100 Day Campaign at Thune village in district Ganderbal J & K, with the aim of promoting awareness regarding tuberculosis and providing healthcare services to the rural and tribal population of the area.

On 16 May 2026, Regional Research Institute of Unani Medicine organized an awareness programme in the waiting area of the OPD with the objective of educating patients and attendants about Tuberculosis (TB), its early symptoms, modes of transmission, and preventive measures. The programme was conducted as part of ongoing public health awareness initiatives aimed at promoting early diagnosis and community participation in TB prevention and control.

On 15 May 2026, Regional Research Institute of Unani Medicine Srinagar organized the 2nd Institutional Medical Research Advisory Committee (IMRAC) meeting with the objective of promoting scientific research and strengthening academic and research activities in the field of Unani medicine. The Regional Research Institute of Unani Medicine Srinagar organized a “TB Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan – 100 Days Campaign” programme at Hari Ganiwan village in District Ganderbal, J & K, to create awareness about tuberculosis (TB) among the tribal population and local residents.

On 11th May 2026, the Peripheral Pharmacovigilance Centre (PPvC) of the Regional Research Institute of Unani Medicine (RRIUM), Srinagar, organized a Pharmacovigilance Awareness Programme at the AYUSH Centre, District Hospital Ganderbal, for patients, doctors, and paramedic staff.

On 9th May 2026, the IAEC (Institutional Animal Ethics Committee) meeting was successfully held at the Ibn Sina Auditorium, RRIUM Srinagar. The meeting commenced with a warm welcome address by the Chairperson, Dr. Irfata Ara, Deputy Director, RRIUM Srinagar, who welcomed all committee members, researchers, and participants and highlighted the significance of ethical, scientifically robust, and responsible research practices.

The Regional Research Institute of Unani Medicine Srinagar organized an awareness programme on Antimicrobial Resistance at Gund village in District Ganderbal, J & K, with the primary objective of educating patients, particularly the tribal population, about the dangers of self-medication and the importance of using medicines only with a valid medical prescription.

On 29th April 2026, the Peripheral Pharmacovigilance Centre (PPvC) of the Regional Research Institute of Unani Medicine organized a Pharmacovigilance Awareness Programme at the AYUSH Centre of District Hospital Pulwama for patients, doctors, and paramedic staff.

The Regional Research Institute of Unani Medicine (RRIUM), Srinagar, organized a Mobile Health Camp under the Tribal Sub Plan (TSP) at Sumbal Bala village in District Ganderbal, Jammu & Kashmir, with the objective of improving healthcare access and spreading awareness among the local population.

An Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR) Awareness Programme was successfully organized on 25th April 2026 at the OPD and waiting area of RRIUM. The programme aimed to educate patients and their attendants about the rational use of antibiotics and the growing threat of antimicrobial resistance.

Under Rashtriya Poshan Pakhwada 2026 , the Regional Research Institute of Unani Medicine, Srinagar organized a series of activities, including OPD awareness programmes, mobile health camps, school health camps, and Poshan rallies, aimed at promoting nutrition and healthy practices among the community. As part of the celebration of Janjatiya Gaurav Diwas, the Regional Research Institute of Unani Medicine (RRIUM), Srinagar, under the Central Council for Research in Unani Medicine (CCRUM), Ministry of AYUSH, Government of India, organized an AYUSH Awareness Campaign on 31st July 2025 at Daraduder village, J&K.

An awareness training on the Laboratory Quality Management System (LQMS) – IS/ISO/IEC 17025:2017 (NABL Accreditation) – was held in the Ibn-Sina Auditorium of RRIUM, Srinagar on the 16th of July, 2025. A lecture was delivered by Dr. Mohammad Younis Dar, Research Officer (Chemistry), covering different aspects of accreditation. The training was actively attended by scientific, technical, and administrative staff of the institute.

The Regional Research Institute of Unani Medicine (RRIUM), Srinagar conducted a comprehensive Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR) Awareness Programme at its Outpatient Department to educate patients about the dangers of antibiotic misuse and highlight the role of immunity in infection prevention.

A meeting regarding Collaborative Research Project was convened at the Ibn Sina Auditorium, Regional Research Institute of Unani Medicine (RRIUM), Srinagar on 03 July 2025. The session witnessed the active participation of faculty members from the Islamic University of Science and Technology (IUST), who engaged in detailed discussions aimed at identifying potential areas of joint research, particularly in the domain of Unani medicine and its integration with modern scientific methodologies

As part of the celebration of Janjatiya Gaurav Diwas, the Regional Research Institute of Unani Medicine (RRIUM), Srinagar, under the Central Council for Research in Unani Medicine (CCRUM), Ministry of AYUSH, Government of India, organized an awareness camp on Sickle Cell Anemia at Sambal Bala, a tribal-dominated area in District Ganderbal.

An awareness event in continuation of "World Environment Day" with the theme "Ending Plastic Pollution Globally", a National Plastic Pollution reduction Campaign, an awareness program was held at RRIUM Srinagar on 13th June 2025.

As part of the pre-activity of International Day of Yoga 2025, a dedicated team from Regional Research Institute of Unani Medicine (RRIUM), Srinagar, including Dr. Suheena Khanday (Research Officer Unani), Dr. Aamir Yousuf (Assistant Professor- Ilmul Advia) Mr. Tahir (Yoga Instructor) and Postgraduate scholars visited the revered shrine of Kheer Bhawani, located in Tulmulla, Ganderbal district of Jammu & Kashmir, on 10th June 2025.

On 5th June 2025 (Thursday), Dr. Towseef Amin Rafeeqi (RO – Biochemistry) delivered a comprehensive lecture on ‘Consequences of Plastic Pollution on Human Life’ in the Avicenna Auditorium of the Institute. He highlighted the factors crucial for driving the agenda of plastic pollution control forward.

02/06/2025 - As part of the nationwide initiative “Latent Tuberculosis Elimination through Ayurvedic Intervention,” launched under the 100-day TB Elimination Program by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW)and supported by Ministry of AYUSH, The Regional Research Institute of Unani Medicine (RRIUM), Srinagar, conducted an awareness and screening camp in Sambal Bala village, District Ganderbal.

May 31, 2025 (Saturday) As a prelude to World Environmental Day 2025, RRIUM Srinagar has conducted public awareness sessions to encourage citizens to refill products like toiletries, cleaners instead of buying new plastic bags/containers.

Today on May 30, 2025, the Regional Research Institute of Unani Medicine (RRIUM), Srinagar, organized a "Picnic Yoga" session as a prelude to the celebration of the International Day of Yoga. Tuberculosis (TB) remains a major infectious disease worldwide, even though it is both preventable and curable. To accelerate its elimination, the Hon’ble Union Minister for Health and Family Welfare launched the 100 Days Campaign for TB Elimination on 7th December 2024. This initiative aims to raise awareness, promote early diagnosis, and ensure treatment adherence through an extensive and strategic approach.

An essay competition was held on 1st Feb 2025 in the IBN SINA auditorium at RRIUM Srinagar , as a part of the ongoing pre Unani day celebrations. The theme of the competition was “Innovation in Unani medicine for integrative health solutions ”. Dr Sumera Mehfooz, Dr Iqra , Dr Ansar Ahmed served as the judges, with the participation by the PG scholars .

The Government of India has declared 15 November as Janjatiya Gaurav Divas to celebrate the 150 birth anniversary of Bhagwan Birsa Munda . The Peripheral Pharmacovigilance Centre (PPvC) at the Regional Research Institute of Unani Medicine (RRIUM), Srinagar, NABH and NABL accredited, organized a significant awareness program on the Pharmacovigilance of ASU & H drugs for BUMS students on 26th November 2024 at the Government Unani Medical College, Ganderbal.

Today, the 15-Day PG Orientation Program titled *"Transformation to Proficient Scholar"* commenced at the Ibn Sina Auditorium, organized by the Regional Research Institute of Unani Medicine (RRIUM) under the Central Council for Research in Unani Medicine. Today on 29th Oct 2024, RRIUM Srinagar conducted a programme in Govt Middle school, Habak under Vigilance Awareness Week 2024. During the programme, the staff of the school and the school children were made aware about the importance of vigilance for the development of the nation.

The staff, M D Scholars and faculty of RRIUM, srinagar met in Avicenna Auditorium of the institute to celebrate the inaugural function of vigilance awareness week-2024. The inaugural address was delivered by Deputy Director of the institute who highlighted the importance of vigilance. The integrity pledge was read by R. O Botany and was taken by all the participants in the Auditorium. Deputy Director also directed all employees of the institute to take e- pledge also.

On 24th October 2024, the Peripheral Pharmacovigilance Centre (PPvC) at the Regional Research Institute of Unani Medicine, Srinagar, organized an awareness program on pharmacovigilance at the Government Unani Hospital, Shalteng.

On October 17, 2024 *Day 2* of the International Conference on *“AYUSH for Good Life: Integrating Indian and Modern Systems of Medicine”* at IUST, discussions and presentations continued with a focus on bridging traditional AYUSH systems with contemporary healthcare practices.

On October 17, 2024, the Islamic University of Science and Technology (IUST) inaugurated its highly anticipated international conference on "AYUSH for Healthy Life: Integrating Indian and Modern Systems of Medicine." This three-day event from October 17-19, brings together distinguished medical professionals, scholars, and practitioners from across the globe to explore the integration of traditional AYUSH systems with modern healthcare practices.

Date : 30/09/2024 Under the first 100 days of New Government celebration Regional Research Institute of Unani Medicine Srinagar has organised Geriatric health camp at Chatter Gul Kangan .In this health camp elderly population of the area were screened for NCDs and other geriatric problems. Compound Unani medicines were distributed among the patients. Dr. Sumera Mehfooz, RA (U) also delivered lecture about Geriatric diseases and it’s prevention in Unani system of Medicine.

Her detailed guidance on safeguarding patient rights and ensuring a safe environment for all was highly informative and essential for healthcare professionals.

Today, on 5th september 2024 Teachers Day as celebrated in Ibn Sina Auditorium of RRIUM srinagar with great enthusiasm among PG scholars and esteemed teaching faculty. On 02.09.2024,As per NABH Calendar for 2024, a lecture on "Hospital Rodents and pest control policies and procedures" was presented by Dr Mohd Urooj, Research Officer Pharmacology in the ibn sina auditorium of RRIUM Srinagar.

With reference to NABH calendar a training program was conducted on 02-09-2024 regarding risks involved in regimental therapy specifically steam and cupping therapy .

On June 21, 2024, the Regional Research Institute of Unani Medicine (RRIUM) , Srinagar celebrated the 10th International Day of Yoga (IDY) a lecture cum practical session aimed at promoting the benefits of Yoga.

A plantation drive was conducted within the premises of the institute during which saplings of Medicinal as well as ornamental plants were planted. A pledge for the improvement of the environment was adopted by the staff and students in the Auditorium of the institute.

In connection with “Sewa Pakhwada”, an interactive session was held between cleaning staff and officers of RRIUM, Srinagar in which cleaning staff was made aware about the practices related to cleaning of various sections of the institute as well as self-cleaning methods like hand washing, adequate use of gloves, masks, soaps etc. Also a mass cleaning of SMPU section of the institute was done after this session.

A cleanliness drive was conducted in the premises of RRIUM, Srinagar where all the cleaning staff of housekeeping along with other staff members participated and did mass cleaning of ground of the Institute.

Inaugural function of Sewa Pakhwada 2022-23 was held today in the Avicena Auditorium of RRIUM Srinagar. The Sewa Pakhwada is to be celebrated from 17th September till 1st October 2022.

Institutional Ethical Committee (IEC) meeting was held on 16-09-2022 at Avicenna Auditorium, RRIUM,Srinagar.

Ministry of Panchayati Raj under the aegis of Ministry of AYUSH, Government of India organized Mass Yoga Demonstrations as to mark the eighth International Day of Yoga-2022 at Sher-i-Kashmir International Convention Centre (SKICC), Srinagar, Jammu and Kashmir, one of the 75 national level iconic locations selected by the government of India, on 21st June, 2022 from 6:00 AM to 8:00 AM.
