OPD: is functional in this institute since 1983 to provide treatment for various ailments and to refer patients for clinical research program. The RRIUM has well-equipped 3 OPDs and well established dispensary. The special OPD provides research medicines to patients of different disease viz., rheumatoid arthritis, bronchial asthma, vitiligo, psoriasis etc. Apart from this RRIUM runs Geriatric OPD once in a week which provides concessional OPD ticket, free medicine and investigations to patients of above 60 years of age. Further Maternal and Child Care OPD is being run twice a week.
Types of OPDs:
- General OPD (GOPD)
- Non-Communicable Disease OPD (NCDOPD): Non Communicable diseases poses a huge threat to the nations public health system both interms of morbidity, mortality and economic burden. In order to address this the institute has initiated the Non Communicable diseases OPD for Health promotion awareness generation, promotion of healthy life style that can be achieved by screening and early detection of these diseases. the Non Communicable diseases clinic is conducted every day in a week.
- Special OPD (SOPD): The main goal of this SOPD is to provide special research medicines to patients of different diseases like rheumatoid arthritis, bronchial asthma, vitiligo, psoriasis etc.
- Maternal and Child Care OPD: Matenal and child health (MCH) was introduced in RRIUM, Srinagar in 2007 when the national campaign on MCH was in full swing in the nation. It was flaged of by Health Minister through a national seminar on MCH at Srinagar which was organized by CCRUM. The main aim of the programme is to reduce infant, child and maternal mortality rates. In this OPD, counselling for both mother and child health care and also Unani Medicine were provided for common ailment. This OPD is conducted every Friday in a week. Thousands of patients have got benefit from MCH OPD
- Geriatric OPD: Medical science has witnessed enormous specialization in recent times and care of the old aged people had come up as a specific field now The branch of medical science dealing with the care of aged person is called Geriatric or Clinical gerontology. According to Tibb-e-Unani philosophy the people above 60 years of age are considered as “Mashaaikh” (aged old people). The leading cause of death (Mortality) among aged people comprises of cardiovascular diseases, respiratory System problems, stroke and cancer. Significant causes of morbidity among this group are Arthritis, Osteoporosis, Depression, Diabetes etc.
- In the view of above RRIUM Srinagar, has started Geriatric OPD for the treatment of above-mentioned ailments of old aged (senior citizens) people This OPD runs every Monday for patients of above 60 years of age, and OPD ticket are being provided free of cost and rest of the service charges remains at 40% of total cost with free medicine.
- Centre of Excellence Outpatient Department (CoE OPD): This section provide treatment for common ailments through Regimenal therapy and Unani medicine to get research response. It provides free Regimenal services, investigation, and medicine for economically weaker sections and to the patients enrolled under CoE research projects
