Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR) Awareness Programmes
The Regional Research Institute of Unani Medicine (RRIUM), Srinagar, conducted a focused Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR) Awareness Programme at its OPD to educate patients and attendants on the harmful consequences of antibiotic misuse and the importance of immunity in preventing infections.
Prof. Dr. Zaffar Hussain (Moalajat) delivered a brief yet impactful talk on the causes of AMR and the need for immune strengthening through Unani principles, while Dr. Irfat Ara (Deputy Director) sensitized patients individually during consultations. Dr. Aamir Yousuf (Lecturer, Ilmul Advia) and Dr. Farhanda (MD Scholar) distributed informative pamphlets emphasizing hygiene, rational drug use, and lifestyle-based immunity enhancement. With participation from over 90 individuals, the initiative reinforced key messages such as avoiding self-medication, completing prescribed antibiotic courses, and integrating immunity-boosting Unani formulations, reflecting RRIUM’s commitment to responsible antimicrobial practices and public health awareness.
