11th International Day of Yoga (IDY) 2025 Celebrations | RRIUM, Srinagar

In observance of the 11th International Day of Yoga (IDY) on 21st June 2025, the Regional Research Institute of Unani Medicine (RRIUM), Srinagar, organized two significant events; one at the Institute premises and another in collaboration with the University of Kashmir, with the objective of promoting yoga as an integral part of holistic health and well-being.



1. In-House Yoga Session at RRIUM, Srinagar (21st June 2025)

A yoga session was conducted within the premises of RRIUM, Srinagar on 21st June 2025. The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from the Deputy Director, Dr. Irfat Ara, Research Officers, faculty members, staff, and postgraduate scholars of the Institute.
The session followed the Common Yoga Protocol, comprising asanas, pranayama, and meditation techniques, aimed at generating awareness regarding the preventive and therapeutic benefits of yoga in everyday life.

 

2. Mega Yoga Event in Collaboration with University of Kashmir

In collaboration with the University of Kashmir, RRIUM, Srinagar co-hosted a Mega Yoga Event that garnered the participation of over 2000 individuals, including students, faculty, healthcare professionals, and yoga practitioners.

The event commenced with the live telecast of the national IDY programme led by the Hon’ble Prime Minister of India, wherein participants joined the nationwide celebration in real-time, reflecting a unified spirit of wellness and national integration.
Following the address, a comprehensive yoga session was conducted under the supervision of three certified yoga trainers, incorporating structured practice of asanas, breathing techniques, and meditative exercises for approximately 45 minutes.
The collaborative event symbolized the fusion of traditional knowledge systems with modern public health approaches, reinforcing the role of yoga in contemporary wellness frameworks.

3. Outcome and Impact

The coordinated celebrations successfully highlighted the role of yoga in preventive health and its relevance in today’s fast-paced lifestyle. Both events served as impactful platforms to:

  • Disseminate awareness on the health-promoting values of yoga,
  • Encourage community participation across academic and healthcare institutions, and
  • Showcase the Institute’s active role in advancing the objectives of the Ministry of Ayush through educational and outreach activities.

Participation in the National celebration led by the Hon’ble Prime Minister further reflected the Institute’s alignment with the vision of making yoga a global movement towards sustainable health, peace, and harmony.
