Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR) Awareness Programme

The Regional Research Institute of Unani Medicine (RRIUM), Srinagar conducted a comprehensive Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR) Awareness Programme at its Outpatient Department to educate patients about the dangers of antibiotic misuse and highlight the role of immunity in infection prevention.




The programme featured insightful talks by Dr. Suheena Khanday (Research Officer, Unani), who explained the causes and consequences of AMR, and Dr. Asghar Nazir (Lecturer, Moalajat), who emphasized hygiene practices and the importance of immune health. Dr. Arjumand Shah (Research Officer, Unani) also sensitized patients during individual OPD consultations, ensuring wider reach through one-on-one awareness.
Informational pamphlets were distributed, followed by the distribution of Khameera Marwareed, a classical Unani immunomodulator, by Dr. Aamir Yousuf (Lecturer, Ilmul Advia) and Dr. Akram Laeeque (Research officer, Unani) reinforcing the campaign’s preventive message.
With over 48 patients and attendants participating, the event was well-received and demonstrated RRIUM’s continued commitment to public health, integrative medicine, and responsible antimicrobial use.
