On 12th June 2025, the Regional Research Institute of Unani Medicine (RRIUM), Srinagar, conducted a Yoga session at the Institute of Asian Medical Sciences as a part of the pre-activity in celebration of the International Day of Yoga 2025.
A dedicated team from RRIUM Srinagar, comprising Dr. Arsheed Iqbal (Research Officer, Unani), Dr. Suheena Khanday (Research Officer, Unani), Dr. Aamir Yousuf (Assistant Professor, Ilmul Advia), and Yoga Instructor Mr. Tahir, conducted the session with active involvement from the students of the host institution.
During the session, various yoga asanas including Tadasana (Mountain Pose), Vrikshasana (Tree Pose), Bhujangasana (Cobra Pose), Trikonasana (Triangle Pose), and Shavasana (Corpse Pose) were performed. The instructor also explained the physiological and mental health benefits of these practices.
The session emphasized the role of yoga in maintaining overall health, preventing lifestyle-related disorders such as hypertension, obesity, and diabetes, and promoting physical and mental harmony.
The event was well received and concluded with a message highlighting the relevance of integrating yoga into daily life for sustainable health and wellness.
