Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR) Awareness Programmes

Date: 21st July 2025 Venues: RRIUM, Srinagar & Sambal Bala Village, District Ganderbal Organized by: Regional Research Institute of Unani Medicine (RRIUM), Srinagar On 21st July 2025, the Regional Research Institute of Unani Medicine (RRIUM) in Srinagar successfully conducted two comprehensive Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR) awareness programs. These initiatives were part of RRIUMs ongoing public outreach efforts, including activities under the Tribal Sub Plan (TSP).



Program Highlights:
1. At RRIUM Outpatient Department (OPD):
- Dr. Huma delivered an informative session to patients, emphasizing the risks associated with the misuse of antibiotics and the importance of maintaining proper hygiene practices.
- To reinforce the key messages, pamphlets were distributed among the attendees by Dr. Mohd Akram Laseeque and Dr. Amir Yusuf. The event was attended by approximately 60 individuals.

2. At Sambal Bala Village (TSP Camp):
- Dr. Sumera Mehfooz conducted an educational session for over 70 tribal participants, focusing on the critical issue of AMR and the significance of enhancing immunity.
- In addition to the educational component, pamphlets were distributed to the participants, and Unani immune-boosting formulations were provided to support their health and well-being.

Impact:
- Total Beneficiaries: The programs collectively reached over 130 individuals, contributing to a broader understanding of AMR and promoting healthier practices within the community.

Outcome:
These AMR awareness programs underscored RRIUM's commitment to enhancing public knowledge on the judicious use of antibiotics, fostering AMR awareness, and promoting Unani healthcare practices. By engaging with diverse audiences, RRIUM continues to play a pivotal role in advancing public health initiatives in the region.
