Latent Tuberculosis Awareness Camp Organised by RRIUM Srinagar Under 100 days TB elimination program

02/06/2025 - As part of the nationwide initiative “Latent Tuberculosis Elimination through Ayurvedic Intervention,” launched under the 100-day TB Elimination Program by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW)and supported by Ministry of AYUSH, The Regional Research Institute of Unani Medicine (RRIUM), Srinagar, conducted an awareness and screening camp in Sambal Bala village, District Ganderbal.



 The objective was to educate the tribal community about Latent Tuberculosis (LTB) and encourage disease prevention through traditional medicinal approaches.

Dr. Sumera Mehfooz, Research Associate (Unani), delivered an insightful talk highlighting the importance of early detection, lifestyle modifications, and the use of Herbal remedies in preventing LTB from developing into active tuberculosis. During the camp, participants were screened for TB symptoms, and Unani nutritional supplements were provided to help enhance immunity. The event was positively received and represented an effective, integrated strategy combining traditional and modern health practices for TB prevention at the grassroots level.
