World Tuberculosis Day Celebration at RRIUM Srinagar: Marking the Success of the 100-Day Intensified TB Elimination Campaign
As a significant milestone in the 100-day intensified campaign for tuberculosis (TB) elimination, the Regional Research Institute of Unani Medicine (RRIUM) in Srinagar celebrated World Tuberculosis Day at the Ibn Sina Auditorium. The event was organized to commemorate the successful completion of the rigorous 100-day campaign, which aimed to raise awareness, enhance prevention measures, and strengthen efforts toward TB eradication.
The occasion served as an important platform to educate students about the significance of TB awareness, prevention, and treatment. During the event, Dr. Arsheed Iqbal (RO) delivered an insightful lecture covering key aspects of TB, including its symptoms, modes of transmission, and available treatment options. He emphasized the critical need for early diagnosis and strict adherence to the full course of treatment to prevent drug resistance. Additionally, he highlighted global initiatives to combat TB and underscored the role of public awareness in reducing stigma associated with the disease.
The event featured interactive sessions where MD scholars actively participated, fostering a deeper understanding of TB-related issues. An awareness booth was also set up, providing educational materials on TB prevention and treatment. The program concluded with closing remarks from Dr. Sumera Mehfooz (RA-U), who emphasized the significance of World Tuberculosis Day in reinforcing collective efforts toward a TB-free future.
