The program was conducted under the guidance of Prof. Arsheed Iqbal (Principal & Research Officer, RRIUM Srinagar). The awareness session was actively delivered by Dr. Arjumand Shah (Research Officer, Unani), Dr. Huma (Research Officer, Unani), and Dr. Zahur (Technical Officer, Unani), who highlighted the causes, consequences, and preventive strategies of AMR. Emphasis was laid on the judicious use of antibiotics, adherence to prescribed treatment, avoidance of self-medication, and the importance of maintaining hygiene and infection control practices.
During the session, patients and their attendants were informed about how misuse and overuse of antimicrobial drugs can lead to drug resistance, making infections difficult to treat. They were encouraged to follow medical advice strictly and to complete the full course of prescribed medication.
Approximately 300 patients and their attendants were sensitized through this initiative. To further reinforce the message, AMR awareness pamphlets containing key information and preventive measures were distributed among the participants by PG scholars Dr. Tabrez Ansari and Dr. Ehtisham Ahmad.
The program was well-received by the attendees, and it significantly contributed to enhancing public awareness regarding antimicrobial resistance and its prevention.
