The programme was conducted to raise awareness among the tribal population about the growing threat of antimicrobial resistance and to promote the rational use of medicines. A total of 59 participants attended the programme and actively participated in the awareness session.
During the programme, Dr. Sumera Mehfooz, Research Associate (Unani), delivered an informative lecture highlighting the dangers of self-medication and emphasizing that medicines, particularly antibiotics, should only be used under the guidance and prescription of a qualified healthcare professional. She explained that the irrational and indiscriminate use of medicines is a major contributor to antimicrobial resistance, making infections more difficult to treat and posing a serious public health challenge.
Following the awareness session, a Mobile Health Camp was organized where patients were clinically examined and provided appropriate Unani treatment. Compound Unani medicines were distributed  to the beneficiaries according to their clinical needs. The programme was well received by the local community and proved to be an effective initiative for promoting responsible medicine use, preventive healthcare practices, and awareness about antimicrobial resistance among the tribal population.
