An Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR) Awareness Programme was organized on 10.07.2026 to educate patients and their attendants about the rational use of antibiotics and the growing threat of antimicrobial resistance.
The programme was conducted under the guidance of Prof. Mohammad Afsahul Kalam, Head, Department of Ilmul Advia and Research Officer (Unani); Prof. Shamim Ahmad, Head, Department of Moalajat; and Dr. S. Basharat, Technical Officer (TO), Unani. They counselled patients and their attendants on the importance of the judicious use of antimicrobial medicines, avoiding self-medication, completing the prescribed course of treatment, and adopting preventive measures to combat antimicrobial resistance.
Postgraduate scholars actively participated in the programme by distributing approximately 200 AMR awareness pamphlets among patients and their attendants. Around 200 patients and their attendants attended the programme and benefited from the awareness session.
The programme was conducted successfully and contributed to enhancing public awareness regarding antimicrobial resistance and the responsible use of antimicrobial agents.
