An Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR) Awareness Programme was successfully organized on 25th April 2026 at the OPD and waiting area of RRIUM. The programme aimed to educate patients and their attendants about the rational use of antibiotics and the growing threat of antimicrobial resistance.
During the programme, Prof. Shamim Ahmad Rathor (HOD, Department of Moalajat), Dr. Mohd Akram Laeeque (Research Officer Unani & Assistant Professor, Department of Moalajat), and Dr. Rumesha (Research Officer Unani) actively participated in counseling sessions. They provided valuable guidance regarding the appropriate use of antimicrobial drugs, the dangers of self-medication, and the importance of completing prescribed treatments.
Approximately 250 patients and their attendants were counseled during the programme. Informational AMR pamphlets were also distributed among the attendees to reinforce awareness messages. The pamphlet distribution was carried out by Dr. Arfa (PG Scholar) and Dr. Qurat-ul-Ain.
The programme was well received and significantly contributed to raising awareness about antimicrobial resistance and its prevention.
