Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR) Awareness Programmes Regional Research Institute of Unani Medicine (RRIUM), Srinagar

The Regional Research Institute of Unani Medicine (RRIUM), Srinagar organized an awareness camp on Antimicrobial Resistance under the Tribal Sub-Plan (TSP) Mobile Health Programme at Sumbal Bala village in Ganderbal District. The objective of the camp was to educate the local community about the growing global threat of antimicrobial resistance and the importance of the rational use of medicines.



During the programme, Dr. Sumera Mehfooz, Research Associate (Unani) addressed the villagers and provided detailed information about antimicrobial resistance. She explained how the misuse and overuse of antibiotics and other antimicrobial drugs can lead to the development of resistant microorganisms, making infections difficult to treat.
The awareness camp proved to be highly beneficial for the residents of the tribal area, as it helped improve their knowledge about antimicrobial resistance and encouraged them to adopt healthier and safer healthcare practices.
A total of 52 patients were examined, treated, and made aware about antimicrobial resistance during the camp
