Rashtriya Poshan Pakhwada 2026 | Regional Research Institute of Unani Medicine (RRIUM), Srinagar

Under Rashtriya Poshan Pakhwada 2026 , the Regional Research Institute of Unani Medicine, Srinagar organized an awareness health camp at Chiner village in District Ganderbal, J and K, with the primary objective of addressing nutritional deficiencies among women and children in the tribal community.



The programme focused on creating awareness about the importance of balanced nutrition, especially during the crucial stages of growth and development in children and the overall health and well-being of women.  During the camp, Dr. Sumera Mehfooz, Research Associate (Unani), actively engaged with the local tribal population and provided detailed guidance on the intake of nutritious food, dietary practices, and the adoption of healthy lifestyle habits to prevent malnutrition and related health issues. She emphasized the significance of proper nutrition in early childhood for optimal physical and cognitive development, as well as the role of maternal nutrition in ensuring healthy outcomes for both mothers and their children. The health camp also included patient consultation and the distribution of compound Unani medicines among the participants to support their health needs
