The third and concluding day of the Three-Day Workshop on “Bloodletting Procedures (Hijama bi’l Shart, Ta‘liq al-‘Alaq, and Fasd) in Ilaj bi’l Tadbeer” was successfully conducted at the Regional Research Institute of Unani Medicine (RRIUM), Srinagar, under the Centre of Excellence (CoE) project funded by the Ministry of Ayush, Government of India.
The day commenced with an insightful expert lecture on Fasd (Venesection) delivered by Prof. Shameem Ahmad Rather, Head of the Department of Moalajat. The lecture comprehensively covered the classical Unani concept of Fasd, its therapeutic indications, procedural principles, clinical relevance, and safety aspects, highlighting its importance in Unani regimenal therapy.
Following the lecture, a hands-on training session on Fasd (Venesection) was conducted at the Ilaj bi’l Tadbeer (IBT) Unit. The practical session was supervised by Hkm Afsahul Kalam (Research Officer, Unani), Dr. Akram Laeeque (Research Officer, Unani) and Dr. Aamir Yousuf (Lecturer, Ilmul Advia). Participants were trained in vein identification, correct technique, aseptic precautions, patient safety, and post-procedure care, ensuring skill-oriented learning.
The day concluded with an engaging discussion and feedback session, where participants shared their experiences, clarified queries, and reflected on the knowledge and skills gained during the workshop.
Overall, the workshop successfully blended classical Unani principles with hands-on clinical training, contributing to capacity building and the promotion of standardized practices in Ilaj bi’l Tadbeer.
